Are you a Scottish-based professional dance performer with strong release technique and improvisation skills, interested in becoming part of a virtual dance ensemble led by an award-winning international choreographer?
If yes, apply now to be considered as one of the five dancers of “Happy Together” screendance film by international choreographer and performance artist Sofia Kondylia!
The film is contemplating on collaborating, choreographing, and moving together as an “ensemble” in this virtual era and beyond. The participating dancers will be expected to independently rehearse from video, by physically committing to the research for six successive weeks on a part-time basis (April 19th – May 31st, 2021). At the beginning of each week, each dancer will be receiving 1-2 min new choreographed video material to practice on, as well as directions and feedback on the material already produced. In the end of each week, s/he will be expected to return to the choreographer a recorded version of her/his weekly progress for group feedback and post-production processing. Additionally, the dancers will need to be available for 1-1 and group online meetings with the choreographer twice a week. The exact times and dates of these meetings will be collectively decided upon the first virtual meeting of the ensemble.
The weekly recordings must take place at an aesthetically neutral indoor or outdoor space (8m x 6m), where the dancers would have free access and could practice in accordance with permissions and current Covid-19 circumstances. Please, note that the material will be including floorwork. All recordings must be taken with a cell phone back camera at HD quality 1080p, 30fs.
Due to lack of funding, this is currently not a paid position. Creation of the project and participation in it is currently voluntary, unless any kind of production funding or showcasing income is sourced in the future.

Open call for performers: Feb 22nd – April 5th, 2021
Rehearsal/Production time: April 19th – May 31st, 2021
Virtual premier by: September 30th, 2021
